About this event
Help us Celebrate FAT BEAR Day with a fun bear storytime, bear paper crafts, and view the fat bears of Alaska on the live stream from the Katmai National Park. This park is home to some of Earth’s largest brown bears. Adult male bears average 700 – 900 pounds (317 – 408 kg) in mid-summer. By late summer and fall, the largest males often weigh more than 1,200 pounds (544 kg). Which Katmai bear will be the fattest for hibernation? Chunk? 99? or Grazer? We will also have information on FIRE SAFETY, making a fire plan for your home and children and pets, and a special visit from SMOKEY, himself. Stay tuned! Please register so we make enough crafts and fire plans! Thank you. FREE to attend, & all supplies provided.
